New Year, New Approach

Well, that’s Christmas done for another year, so all you have to worry about now is the dreaded New Year’s resolutions …

Luckily, help is at hand in a piece I’ve written for www.ivillage.co.uk, showing you how to avoid making those pesky resolutions that are inevitably doomed to failure. Instead, you can make choices for 2007 that are joyful and fun to do.

On the subject of lightening the load, I heard Gary Renard, the author of ‘Your Immortal Reality’, being interviewed about enlightenment recently. He commented that one of the reasons it's called that is because it's about lightening up and learning not to take things too seriously. I can’t think of a better way to usher in a new year than in that spirit of joy, lightheartedness and irreverence.

Here’s the link to the article, so you can face the new year with a lighter spirit:

On a more down-to-earth note, as the year draws to an end it can also be the perfect time to let go of whatever you no longer need. The house is full of new stuff from Christmas, so why not bundle off a bunch of clutter to a charity shop and start the new year feeling lighter in more ways than one? It’ll help you to focus more clearly on what you do want, when you’re not surrounded by things you don’t need and possibly don’t even like anymore. Try following the advice of the designer William Morris, who said “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”.

When New Year rolls around you should be feeling lighter and brighter, so have a fabulous celebration, indulge in plenty of bubbles and plan to make 2007 a total blast!
